Word takes a while to seep out from under those trying to surpress it, but slowly whispers spread about another attack on the Cardinal's Guards. Four dead some say, others five. A patrols worth certainly, some killed by blades, others by arrows if the gossip is to be believed. What is truely shocking though, and what has made word spread dispite the attempted embargoes, is the latest developments in the killings;

  • a large branch of wood, that would have taken at least four men to carry was found at the scene. It had spikes, although if they were natural, or shaped by human hands is the topic of hot debate. What is not under debate though is that the corpse of these murdered men were impailed upon these spikes after their deaths in some kind of gruesome display.
  • each guard was left with their cloaks and gear. That there are bodies found at all is unusual, but with nothing taken? It rules out robbery.
  • the officer, it's said by some, had a letter pinned to his chest with a dagger. A letter addressed to their Captain, Mitchel d'Sierge. There are many, many theories about what it might say, but officials are being very tight lipped about it, and the smart money is on it being forwarded on unopened.
