Uncle

With Ocean Seeker having recently been in Hellsmouth I thought it prudent to update you with developments there as we were able to observe at the docks.

It is readily apparent that the Imperials are in control there, and their officials are those that work the docks. Any hope of a slow transition can be firmly set aside and the reality is that the Vir Sidus have taken a very firm hold given the short amount of time they've been there. This is causing some degree of resentment amongst the populace, leading many to take the freedom that the d'Korbina has given them and leave. Some of these I have brought back to Fiorello, and intend to go back for more as it gives us first pick of those with skills that would be of use to us before they disperse throughout the Kingdom or Four Corners.

I also managed a few words with the d'Korbina, and while there are certainly aspects of Imperial rule he is finding hard to adjust to, he does not consider the initial act of leaving Aequor to have been a mistake. If he will come to embrace his new masters, or if resentment will fester, I can't yet say, but I will keep a close eye.

Finally, he made an off-hand comment which might be worth bearing in mind as he will no doubt be training his skills in magic under the Imperials. He paid for the passage of some of his people with gems, and then noted that for more I'd have to wait until he'd made more. I took this to mean that as part of his magic he can form and shape them. Now depending on how much his ability in that can be improved we might want to think about how to handle a market being flooded with such items would harm our established trade, although I suspect this is a medium to long term issue rather than anything we need to react to right now.

Your faithful nephew
Ivo
