A list of names and formal greetings begin the letter, the holy knight Gaston addressing the Cardinals and High Priest.

"I beg your forgiveness for the presumptuousness and arrogance I have displayed. I am but a servant; it is not my place to publicly stand up against such august people, and present myself as their peer. But I have felt compelled, Your Graces, your Holiness. I am compelled by the oaths I swore upon my knighthood, upon my acceptance to the Order Reliant, compelled by the promise I have made to in my words and actions always be loyal to the true Church.

It is beyond obvious that a pestilence of the spirit has taken root among the nobility. The Archduchess Arkanin makes deals with foreign invaders, offers friendship to a heretic people; in the north, a traitor queen rises, and casts venom at God and king. All her vassals rise in support of witchcraft and sorcery, and so share in her most unforgivable of sins. Viscount Arkanin, a name that holds such prestige and power, stood before the assembled lords of the realm and spoke of respect for the traitor queen, and took to the defense of the Vir Sidus heretics. Has the sacrifice of Saint Sandoval been forgotten by the lords of Arkanin? I fear they may be returning to their savage roots.

These are but some of the names; I am sure You know the others. And so I find myself distraught; to respect the nobility, I fear I must disrespect God. I plead for your wisdom, most holy ones, and understanding. I know I am no one, but I am God's sword and shield, all the same. I see only one path forward: those of the faith must be called, and gathered into a grand army. The traitor queen and her loyal vassals must be excommunicated, and it must be known by all her rivals that her life and territories are forfeit. A powerful display of the Church's authority, and the authority of the One, will unite the wandering souls of the people.

I called sorcery a wound in the soul. Sin, doubt, and heresy are the same; and any wound, if left untreated, will fester. For the sake of the people, I beg you take a stand. Let your words echo through all of God's kingdoms.

Forever faithful, Sir Gaston of Olsber."

Sir Gaston,

It is good that you list the transgressors, those who have made themselves enemies of truth and the One himself. That they claim to honour his name is immaterial; they do evil, or support evil, and they shall be punished for it in due time, whether in this world or the next. You do well in forwarding these names to the bosom of the Church, as this knowledge is powerful.

But, remember your station, Knight of the Church. You are a servant, and your place is not to cause outrage in the Senate. In doing so, you create enmity against yourself, and then how are you to do our work in collecting the names and deeds of the enemies of the One?

The Church has its priorities; those set by the High Priest, by his Cardinals and by the Holy Inquisition. Keep collecting information as you can, and helping the poor. We hear too of this, and commend you. Remember - sword and shield are both as valuable, and helping those under evil rule is as just a goal as defeating the evil.

Walk with the one,
Bishop Lorica Deir, Prefect of Divine Works
