Alia strode into the workroom that had been set aside for the use of the Tribune and her auxilia. There was something comforting in the familiar trappings of the space. So unlike the workshops she had known in Four Corners, and yet, deeply nostalgic, as she gazed out across the work tables and the carefully cataloged and stored alchemical supplies. She did not speak immediately, but, instead, allowed the knowledge of her presence to ripple through the room, allowing time for each of the auxilia who were working to reach a stopping point in their work.
When she spoke, her voice was resonance, reaching across the room, though she barely lifted her voice to allow it to reach the back of the room. "The Princeps has given us a task, and I have assured him that we will not fail in the effort." All of the faces that were turned to her brightened with interest. That they showed eagerness rather than trepidation was reassuring to Alia. It was a good place from which to start. "The Princeps has charged us with the creation of a substance, which, when applied to shields, will repel fire, rendering it as harmless as water to the material." She paused a moment, to allow that to be absorbed. "What I wish, is to ensure that such a substance can also be applied to armor and wooden weapons, as fire which is retarded on a shield can still set a soldier ablaze." Again, she paused, marking the faces of the men and women who were her charges.
"We will begin the work immediately. I will be working with you. Finish your current projects if you can. If you feel that they cannot wait, come to me and we will discuss it. I will be working along with all of you to see the project to completion." The announcement offered, Alia moved to her own workstation, settling into her seat both to prepare her supplies for her own work, as well as to await the ideas that she had no doubt would soon be offered her way.
