Brigadier Viscount Thomas Chandus writes orders out to get things going, sending correspondence to Brigadier Dertan Kaedon, Col Montague Mitchell of the Royal Dragons, Lord Wulfred de Ufford, Captain Scarlett Chandus and sending a copy of the matters concerning to both Sir Bethany and Lord Gauvain.

Brigadier Kaedon,

I am despatching two squadrons of the Royal Dragoons, our Army's new recce regiment, to assist you in our aims of identifying an enemy landing in our south. The aims are twofold; first, that they may help screen areas between fortresses and inform us immediately of any landing. Second, that they may act as a courier and messenger service between our two forces. Their mounts are swift, and whilst they are good and canny fighters it is my intent that they not be engaged with enemies at all. Rather, given their nature and training, they should maintain contact with the enemy from a distance and report to us.

Signed,
Brigadier Chandus

Colonel Montague Mitchell,

I am pleased to see that your regiment is up to full strength, trained, honed and ready. Your first assignment is this - take two squadrons of your Dragoons east to join the forces of Brigadier Kaedon in vicinity of Alnburgh. Your orders are to both screen the areas between fortresses and act as a messenger corps tying both us near Duval and the southern force near Alnburgh.

I am sending you personally to command this force. I have faith in Brigadier Kaedon, but some of his underlings may attempt to order you around. This is where your rank as a Colonel in Her Majesty's service will come into play. You know where your loyalty lays - to the Crown. Do not become decisively engaged with the enemy. Avoid combat, and keep your eyes on them where they land. My suggestion would be to disperse your force into troop sized elements, but you may employ them as you will.

Your other two squadrons will remain in Tarris lands and act as the eyes for the Duval force. Retain your deputy commanding officer (DCO) as the commander in place. I will be transferring command authority of this force to Lord Aspendon, who your DCO will report to. Further, Aspendon is being tasked with his Spurs to root out the Caltu raiders. Until he's back, your DCO will remain in full control of all scouting endeavours.

Signed,
Brigadier Chandus

Aspendon,

I am not remaining in Duval, as other concerns pull me hither and tither. You are the commander of all forces that we've brought south - the Royal Borderers, the Spurs, the Chandus forces and your own that have marched to our camp. I am cutting half of the Royal Dragoons to you as well, under care of their DCO. They will be used to screen areas that we cannot cover with our less mobile troops as well as a messenger corps to ensure that we are in constant communications. Ensure that they do not become decisively engaged, but simply screen.

As for your Spurs, you are hereby tasked with finding the Caltu's abode. Once you have found them, fix them, take whatever soldiers Sir Bethany will provide and root them out. Quarter is to be offered to them if they will lay down arms. Surrenders and non-combatants will be exiled to the Fallow Lands once we are able to arrange this.

To aid you, I am attaching the composite company of my Highlanders (under Capt Chandus and including the Highlanders formerly in your order of battle) to aid, as well as a platoon of my Leatherback longbows under Lt Geoffrey Cethegus. He's young, but blooded at Mathis and a good officer. Keep an eye on my cousin, Capt Chandus. She is an excellent soldier, though headstrong. The same go for her Highlanders.

God keep you,
Repton

Capt Chandus,

Report immediately to Lord Aspendon with your Highlanders. Your assignment will be to accompany them in the course of their duties to find and fix the enemy Caltu. He will then marshal what forces are required and drive them out. My intent is for this threat to be extirpated. You are under full command of Lord de Ufford.

Signed,
Brigadier Chandus
