Written on the finest vellum, the scrolling words are penned a tad awkwardly at times, some of the loops almost perfect before their arch yields to a sudden awkward halt. Though completely legible, the writer is no doubt beset with some measure of an injured or ill-healed hand.

Written a good while past, the letter has travelled extensively, on its way to Aequor and into the right hands. A good many precautions taken, often too many precautions, though the writer would attest that could never be too many.

Your Majesty,

I offer heartfelt condolences to you and your dear wife, I am certain that His Highness shall be lauded and hailed by future generations to come. War and trickery often go hand in hand, though it would appear that alongside both rests a certain evil. An evil that was spawned in Rikton, and whatever the so-called Sealing was, it was certainly an abomination.

While the problems facing Rikton may well involve us all at some point, I wrote concerning the problems affecting Aequor, most notably its trade. With a land beset by strife, trade suffers, it is inevitable. Be it enemy forces or the banditry one associates with the last war that tore Galenthia apart.

So I offer this, which in turn I shall admit freely, aids both the Free City of Four Corners, given its natural state as a hub of commerce and ingenuity, while also aiding Aequor and those who seek to keep the coin flowing. The roads are the very arteries, coin is the lifeblood, I would offer you a way to keep the lifeblood flowing, plus a means to aid in severing the very arteries that feed your enemy.

I seek a Royal Charter, a charter with which the Banking House of Thynne and those so associated through the Honourable Guild of Bankers, a Guild whose reputation is above reproach, would open within Lyionesse. While the benefits to the Guild are obvious, this would allow for the secure transfer of funds across the West, ensuring safety, security and relief for those who rely upon such measures. War is good for some business, but the business of keeping bellies full is one that often suffers.

To this end I would deliver to you a small token of one thousand golden doves, a small gesture given the aid rendered by a notable subject of yours during the plague that struck our city. This coin is for the purchase of items that aid the Kingdom in this time of need. Food, weapons, mercenaries, whatever brings it to a close, as quickly and cleanly as ever a war can end. The coin is not dependent upon the Charter and shall arrive soon, consider it a token of my esteem. It does have one stipulation, and that is that each and every coin spent, shall be overseen by a Clerk of my Bank. Every coin shall be accounted for, and once it is spent, my clerk shall return to Four Corners.

This is not a matter of trust, it is simply a matter of good practice. Every coin shall aid Aequor to its fullest potential. The clerk and his contingent will not impose upon you and yours, of that you can be assured.

Sir Mattias Thynne,
Councillor & Senator,
Guildmaster of the Honourable Guild of Bankers,
The Free City of Four Corners.
