Dario  Myrana

Having written a breif letter to Adriono explaining his latest project and what he hopes to achieve, Dario has just now received a small package. A package baring a belt buckle made of rose gold. In his tent he examines it carefully, preparing to properly study it so that he might uncover its properties and how its made. The tent where the d'Armaz Bishop stays is more often than not given a wide berth by the soldiers and thats probably for the best. Dario prepares his workspace setting up his equipment and then he begins to examine the belt. If needed he will break it down to its more basic elements for study but its his hope that he can uncover its secrects without completely destroying the piece. With protective gloves covering his hands Dario gets to work, testing and examining the metal with every tool at his disposal.

Slowly carefully Dario shaves a sliver of the precious metal off the main piece. Putting the tiny bit of metal under a new and extremely expensive examining device his father bought him Dario peers at it intently. Energy is felt, a strange sensation that comes and goes as he thinks about it. He blinks. "Magic perhaps? Hmm…facinating!" He removes his gloves carefully and continues to examine the piece after a moment of thought he calls for Myrana. "Someone send for Lady Myrana if you would?! I have something I need to discuss with her, its urgent." He was planning to surprise her but considering if it is magic she might be the best option to help him. He doesn't exactly have the greatest trust in religious sorts anymore.

Myrana arrives, still toweling her hair after bathing and dressing in a nicely cleaned kirtle. Upon seeing Dario with the microscope, she approaches with a curious smile. "What's this?" She reaches out and puts a settles one hand on Dario's shoulder and touches the brass instrument with the other. It stands out of its traveling case like a fantastic toy. "It's beautiful, did father get it for y-oh!"

Looking down, she sees the buckle itself, which misses a sliver, but it would be hard to tell without knowing where to look.

Gently, she picks it up.

"This is magic, isn't it?" she asks. "Are you studying it, Dario?"

"Yes sister. I'm attempting to discern its components." Dario admits quietly. "If I am correct this is the same material that Baron d'Kemp had on his armor when he fought d'Rana. I was not present but I heard the stories. Golden metal that glowed, that made the Baron move faster? This is rose gold just as that was, I am trying to uncover its secrets." Dario runs a hand through his hair and thinks a moment. He pulls the buckle out and offers it to her. "I was hoping you could assist? What do you feel when you hold it? Is there anything your senses can pick up? Close your eyes and focus if you would, try and use your power to sense whatever kind of might be magic in the buckle. Tell me if you feel anything?" He picks up a quill and notebook, prepared to scratch out notes of her findings.

Myrana blinks, but then turns her back to the table where Dario has his flasks and burner and so on arranged, and leans her hips against it, holding the buckle in both hands. She closes her eyes and settles into silence, shoulders relaxing and features settling into thoughtful ease.

Soon, little sparks of electricity run over the surface of the rosegold where it rests atop her hands and under the tip of either thumb. Dario can immediately see that there's pattern being sketched out in these moving sparks. If he's quick, he can draw the design in his notes.

"I don't feel anything," Myrana murmurs, eyes still closed. When they flick open a moment later, they're dimly luminescent with an electric teal that would be visible for a long ways in the dark, at night. But in the warm sunglow of the tent, it is very faint indeed. "It makes my hands feel like they're humming, but I don't know."

Dario works fast, trying to copy the pattern as quickly and accurately as possible. There is a smile on his face along with a facinated expression as he studies the pattern and then looks back to Myrana. "Thats okay Myrana. It appears to have some kind of design or runes that react with your magic though. Facinating! Now I just need to break down that sliver to its basic elements to see how best to reproduce it." He seems to be speaking mostly to himself. He smiles to Myrana. "Thank you sister, you are a blessing. Let me know if you need me for anything yes?" He looks at her in gentle concern but is quickly drawn back to the sliver under his microscope. He removes it and begins the process of breaking it down to examine and note its basic properties. He is trying to discover what makes it up and if its any different than normal gold or if its the runes that make it truly unique.

Myrana smiles at her brother. Immediately the sparks and the glow vanish, and she sets the buckle back down before putting a kiss on the side of his head. PECK! "I'm having that odd gun brought to you. If you could look at it for me, I want to know how it works. They keep using them to signal each other." And with that, she smiles and heads out of the tent, leaving Dario to his Alchemy.

"Of course. I will be happy to help." Dario smiles as he is kissed a distant look taking his expression for a moment, a soft smile given to Myrana before she departs. Then he will get back to the first step this current project. Discovering what makes rose gold unique. He intends to uncover how its made and then replicate it if possible. The runs in his note book are set carefully aside so they won't get damaged while he works on breaking down the small bit he is working with.

Among Alchemists, there is a common language of symbols and mathematics which handle the spiritual-chemical balance of all natural things, creature and substance. A table of elements, as it were, but wild and semi-mystical in some corners where the actual Physics of Tirth work with magical law. It is heresy to term it thus, and modern Alchemists of the Church of the One shy away from examining things too closely (or at least, where they might be discovered by the Inquisition's spies and watchdogs) or lecturing on their studies, but in the time of Darius, this was common and accepted.

This symbol, Dario would know, is one of those heretical Glyphs of the time of Darius.

The gold itself is simply gold, but it has been altered on the molecular level into something that vibrates with the invisible glyph carved into its surface by some tool so fantastical and so light as to be like carving with a single hair….

Or.

Burned there.

Dario takes more notes. He knows the theory now. But this is as much art as it is science. He will have to practice in order to master this glyph, but master it he will…all he needs is time. And then he will make his sister some very fine jewelry…Or maybe armor. One knows she needs better protection…
