Evae

Come by rider, and a very tired rider at that, on the wave of Arkanin rumors that took no time getting back to Firen -oddly enough considering the state of Arkanin,- a missive from the Queen herself. Penned in perfectly swirled hand the missive is apologetic in tone.

Duchess Evae Arkanin,

I am sorry it took so long to fully respond to your missive, I have truly been very busy with matters of state. It saddens me to hear your kinfolk and vassals are so ruthlessly accosting you because of my absence at your swearing. Do know, Duchess, that I had very good cause for such.

I can't get into too much detail, just know that I understand and respect that you are not asking for assistance, but as your Queen I also cannot stand idly by and do nothing. Yes, I cannot help you militarily, but I can help you politically as much as I am able.

At the time that you so prettily swore fealty to my throne and the realm, which was nicely and well done from what I was told and read, I was in conference with a delegate from Aequor on your behalf; along with other most pressing matters. Take heart, Lady Evae, for I will do all I can to help you in whatever way I can.

I know that your sister's deeds where not your own, and you had only to deal with what the One gave you, I do not fault you for your choice. Instead, I am impressed with your resolve and persistence in the matter, for yourself and for your people. What other reason would I have given you the heavy mantle you requested? You have done your best to keep this conflict within your Duchy, I am ever grateful for this and I will do my part to help in making sure that it stays a Arkanin and D'Armaz matter.

For this I hope that you, Duchess, do not fault me for my absence; know, that who was on attendance when you swore fealty, when anyone swore fealty, was not of consequence; for when I am dead and gone what all of your oath is left? Your dedication to the realm, your people, and the Throne itself. Neither I, nor anyone else, could ask anything more of you.

One last thing and on a much more personal note, Lady Evae. I wish to say that I am sorry. I am sorry for your losses, and I'm sorry you had to go through it so young. I feel your pain everyday, know that my thoughts are with you always.

May you ever walk in the light of the One,

Your Queen, Melisande Sofia Romante
