Shirlyn  Dario

On their way through Alicante, Shirlyn stopped at a local farmer who was growing a plot of basil. It’s sweet yet earthy smell was hard to miss, and since Thomas was off on other business at the time, she had to occupy herself somehow. Claire had told her that the cure for the Barnacle Boils consisted of Comfrey and Basil, though the other, finer ingredients are unknown to her.

She doesn’t know anything about healing besides wrapping a wound, so she bought the basil from the farmer and had it compressed down into oils and the leaves themselves added to the bottles so that it would travel better.

Upon arriving in Ironhold she obtained the mountain flower comfrey from a local goat herder she paid a small sum to pick them for her, when he went up the mountain with his goats the next day. He brought back a barrow full, but compressed the same way as the basil it didn’t yield as much.

Shirlyn packed the three wine sized bottles, two of basil one of comfrey, into a small crate and sent them on to Four Corners with a missive for Bishop Dario.

Dario Tevino, Bishop of the One Faith and recognized bastard of Adriono d’Armaz,

While that is still a very long title, I had not forgotten our meeting, young Bishop. The next day I had heard that you were the reason your father did not fall ill, and for that I owe you my greatest sympathy, apology, and thanks. For my kin as well as my ignorance on the matter of your illness. I have not let claims of her innocence gone uncontested, it was a foul thing she did in your father's own home and for that I'm sorry.

I had the pleasure of escorting Viscountess Claire Romante back home to Alicante, there she told me that these ingredients are what is used in the cure for the affliction that ails you and many others in Four Corners. It isn’t much, just a little I have procured along my travels, but I hope it helps in some small way. If you need anything else from me, Bishop, some other ingredient to help your cause, do let me know, I will do my utmost to get it to you in a timely manner. You may send missives to me in Firen, by the time this reaches you I should be readying to head that way soon enough.

I hope this is of some help to you. Remember, the trick is to know that you’ll always be damned, you’re just trying to wiggle your way to salvation. I’ll be sure to pay my bounty soon enough, Bishop. Send my well wishes to your dear sister.

Walk with the One.

With no more than that, Shirlyn sends the crate, and the sealed missive packed safely inside, on its way with a pair of merchants and a gold coin to see it safely to Four Corners and directly into Dario’s hands.
