Mattias

Sat in his opulent office, Mattias lounged rather easily within his great chair with a cup of kaffe to one side and his one-eyed factotum sat on the opposite side of the desk bearing a quill and parchment. Still clad in his scale armour, Mattias beared little resemblance to the robe clad bankers that most considered the norm, the three hand cannon braced against his front certainly didn't help and yet the all too recognisable glove upon his right hand gently drummed an idle tune upon his beautifully carved desk.

"Send the equivalent of a years wages to the family of the tax collector who died in the slums, one has to admire her devotion to duty, if not perhaps the choice of mercenary who failed to protect her. I doubt we'll recover the body parts to afford a proper burial, though justice will be meted in time. If not by the plague, then by the noose."

The half-blind Factotum nodded, the white eye that attracted so much of ones gaze simply stared blindly at the banker who took a measured sip of his morning kaffe before gesturing to the parchment and quill in the factotum's hands.

"The mercenaries should be held to a higher standard and this is one of those moments when they have quite simply failed. Perhaps rioting beggars are more their thing, a larger sense of satisfaction when one has so easily laid waste to the infirm, the hungry and the dispossessed."

The factotum's face hardly changed, his mouth as ever drooped slightly upon the left side and that blind eye reflected the light dimly and as ever the quill remained poised as Mattias continued to speak.

"Inform the necessary agents, I want all twelve dead. I also want their captain dead for I am sure there is a wiser head amongst the Company who can lead by example and not repeat this pathetic performance. If thirteen is considered unfortunate, I can certainly think of a fourteenth name if so required."

The words thus spoken, Mattias left the factotum to write the letter in such a way that conveyed his thoughts quite adequately. As the quill scratched upon the parchment, Mattias took the time to savour his kaffe and relax for a few brief moments. The relaxation was not to be for the banker lifted his gaze from the kaffe and regarded his factotum with a cold and measured stare.

"And I would like their heads to hang from the building that last saw the Tax Collector alive, with whatever mark the Demon's use nailed to their brow. Before they were simply angry at a lack of the cure, now they're angry at the lack of a cure and a massacre on their doorstep."

Mattias smiles a touch crookedly as he sipped his kaffe and watched the quill scribble and scratch its way across the parchment.

"Death and taxes. I need not say any more. Right! Onto our next piece of business. One Master Gruber seeks to exchange one hundred Galenthian crowns into the Aequorian equivalent, the transaction is duly authorised and do send my regards to him and his wife, they have the most beautiful gardens within their compound and his dear wife was kind enough to send some of the flowers from it, they are truly quite exquisite."

The message that wings its way to the necessary agents simply requests a meeting, details to be forthcoming as and when necessary.
