A letter written in the hand of Kaicee Romante but signed, if messily by Raymund's own, delivered to the Queen by Moongazer, the parchment smelling faintly of smoke.

Your Majesty,

The Thorns have been routed in the south. The extent of the damage they did is still being accounted but they seized one village that I saw and set their fields on fire. The battle was short but fierce, and at its end we lost fifty-two men to their hundred and twenty-seven. Like the previous reports of battles with these new Thorns they were well armed and well-equipped with discipline beyond what one would expect from bandits. They were also armed with scorpions.

Of my contingent only two were killed and with your leave we will remain her until the Sokar can be sure there are no further Thorns in the area. I do not expect to be more than a week, but I can return at once upon your command.

In conclusion, I would like to note the work of Sir Thaddeus Sokar who ably commanded the battle and personally fought three men armed as knights who tried to take his life during the chaos.

Yours in service,

Sir Raymund Langer
