To His Grace, Duke Gauvain Tarris:
Undoubtedly, you have heard of the news from Kentaire by now via moongazer and other means of rumor. If not, I am glad to inform you that your sister, the Lady Claire is safe. The man, Sir Robar is dead.
The lady and Romantes are within the Kentaire Palace. From what I have seen, the royal healers have been treating the Lord Tristan Romante under the ladys watchful eye. She tells me that the intended plans are to return to Alicante once this ban is lifted. What do you wish for me to do once she is safely seen there?

I know that Sir Ryker is sending you a message. That is why I am following with one of my own. First? Bethany and Corwin are fine. I made certain of that. Second? Will you be in Firen soon? I do not know when the wedding will take place, much less when I can make it home. You know that I am trying my utmost to improve our reputation in Alicante. I will write more once able.

Arriving a few days later:

Stay with Claire for now. I have to venture into Sokar lands by order of the Queen and hope the Dragon Lady of the South, the Duchess Isabella Sokar, does not remove my head. I don't think she actually will. In case she does, tell my children I love them.
Now, since I only had time to send one parchment, and likely Claire is going insane wondering why I would write to you and not her. String her along for a few hours. After that time, tell her His Grace said: This is for turning my teeth blue after I was Knighted.
Then inform her I said to stay safe and see to it that Bethany returns to Duval and Corwin is to make haste to Viscount Cassomir who will take over as his Knight for a time.
I will return to Firen shortly after I arrange things with the Sokars. What that is she will find out soon enough. Wish me luck.
