sending letters to

Melisande  Jaren  Letholdus  Raelyn

Your Majesty,

I am writing you from Ironhold, as a personal family emergency with my younger sister has seen me there. She has been seen safely home after being attacked. I apologize for not remaining in Four Corners, with your assignment of watching for anything odd from the tournament and at Viscount Letholdus' side, but I assure you the man still has two Royal Lancers with him, and my sister had need of me. I pray you understand and forgive me this decision to protect my sibling.

As well, there has been no indication of anything untoward that I was able to note, days after the tournament doing scouting rides nor when I traced my steps back to Ironhold. I'm sure the other eyes and ears may speak differently and I pray they have succeeded where I did not. What patrol I rode has come up with no indication of a large army or force on the west lands, but I still feel some apprehension.

I would ask for permission to take a larger patrol back to Four Corners to sufficiently provide escort for the numerous members of House Romante that are still within the city. Forty men should be enough, unless you desire me to take more. My intent is to sweep the land in patrol on our return path northward.

At your leave, my intent is to return to Four Corners within three to four days time. I shall delay in Ironhold no longer than a day in hopes of your reply.

Sir Henric Cassomir

Brother, I wrote as soon as I could find a sufficient moongazer and supplies to send word to you. In fact, the moment we were able to get back onto the road and out of the forests, I stopped at an Inn on the road and thus, where I am writing you from there. It is a little place called Hunter's Hill Inn, I'm sure you know the place, it is only north of Ironhold half a days ride.

I write to inform you I have found our sister, safe, and will see her home. She was attacked in Four Corners and fled out of fear. As you know, I left swiftly from Four Corners and it was for this reason I did. Forgive me for not leaving word, but, I had little time to prepare and a lot of ground to cover for our sister was swift upon foot. Her huntresses finally caught up to us today, but I assured them Emilia was safe in my care and custody.

We should be home within half a day. I sent word to the Rose Queen of my location and intent to bring back a patrol of forty to Four Corners, for I still feel some apprehension of the plots afoot and believe I may have missed important clues.

We will need to talk of what occurred and the rumors that came about while I was in Four Corners. Most, I assure you, of what was said, was nefarious lies. Be well, until we speak, brother.

Henry

Viscount Romante,

My Lord and good friend, I have news and finally was able to locate sufficient supplies and a moongazer to send them. I am north of Ironhold currently and I should inform you I left swiftly from Four Corners due to an emergency with my youngest sister. I hope you do not hold this against me as I feared for her life. I managed to find her three days out of Four Corners and am escorting her safely home to Ironhold.

I have full intentions to move swiftly back to Four Corners with a patrol of forty, to scout along the way, pending the Queen grants me them. I did not come across any signs of a large army or forming mass along the west lands, but that still doesn't bring me comfort. I shall be returned to your side within three or four days, pending the swiftness of our ride.

I shall see you shortly, so be well until then, my friend.

Sir Henric Cassomir

RESPOSNE:

As Dus has no way of knowing precisely where Henric might be to send a moongazer to him, Letholdus sends a message to Ironhold to await Sir Henric's arrival there.

Sir Henric,

I wish I had thought before to demand where you were going, to what end, and how long you expected to be gone. I was much distracted with other matters. Nothing to be done about that now. Thank you for reporting back to keep me abreast of your actions.

Also, I have noted that Sir Oberyn and Sir Kylier seem to be missing without leave. Are they with you? I do not know if they have fallen into difficulty, or deserted their posts, or if Melisande sent them orders. A recent event suggests that messages I have sent out may be getting intercepted. Others may be as well. Be careful what you send and back up messages may be wise if you do not have a reply or get replies you mistrust.

~ Sir Letholdus Romante

RESPONSE:

The response to your last -may- get to you late tonight at the earliest, tomorrow afternoon more likely. (I just wanted to write this before I forget, because I'm terrible at remembering to do IC letters).

Viscount Romante,

I have received your last. I will be aware of sending duplicates if I do not hear word back. I thank you for that warning.

As to other matters, Sir Kylier is a junior member of our Order, recently lifted to the status of a Royal Lancer. He had no immediate posting or any direct responsibility, so I asked him with me to watch over the Lady Romante. Perhaps I lack judgement on such things, but, he has sworn himself to keep honour as a Royal Lancer and to ride with me and what better way to keep an eye on him and test him, than bring him on route. Until the Queen assigns him a direct task, it is common place for any other member of the Royal Lancers to ask for their aid, as I did when I followed you north and asked Sir Oberyn to be a part of that mission. And as far as I knew, Sir Oberyn lacked any direct orders himself, so, has also taken to riding with my patrol. For that is what we'll be doing on the road back. Patrol, as I'm sure you're aware, is part of our duty when not on direct escort.

I understand the frustration with this matter, but had you seen the blood on my sister's dress, you might have done the same. I cannot know. I can only do what I think is right and at the time, it was right. If I have offended or any way neglected my duty to you sir, I will present myself at your discretion for appropriate punishment.

Sir Henric Cassomir

To Raelyn…

Dear sister,

I wanted to inform you that our younger sister is safe and secure in my care. Your huntresses found us here at Hunter's Hill Inn, a half days ride from Ironhold. Do not be wroth with our Emilia, dear sister, for she was attacked in Four Corners and fled out of fear. She is safe and in good health. I will escort her to Ironhold and then return with a patrol that will see us back up toward Four Corners, pending the Queen's permission.

Forgive me for not sending word earlier. I had to act fast for you know how swiftly our sister moves. You taught her, so I'm sure you know. This is the first opportunity we've had to find moongazers and supplies. We've been in the forests for the better part of three days.

Be well until I see you next.

Henry
