It was a warm summer day at the end of Juin, 1845, when Matilde d'Acuto came kicking and screaming into the world, moments behind her twin sister Tereza. She would be the third child of Baron Artos d'Acuto and his wife and his wife the Baroness Lucia, originally of House al'Sylenthar. She also had an older brother; Jordan, and a younger brother named Odo would follow a few years later.
Matilde from a very early age showed her similarities to her twin sister, but also her differences. Her love of learning and books was clearly evident, and it was too often that the young girl was not buried in some sort of book, trying to absorb all that she could.
As soon as she could talk, it was clear that Matilde was going to be destined to use her words to change the world; or at least get what she wanted. Her stubborn demeanor mixed with a certain charm and diplomatic expression always got her the extra tart at dinner, or out of trouble when she managed to get into it. The girl had a silver tongue, and many servants and attendants knew it. She was a convincing little girl, and as she grew older, this skill only bettered itself.
From an early age she took on a fascination for languages, it was to be expected, as her father also was well-versed in this area of study. Even though her father was not around much, as he was aiding in the command of the Fortress Benide, he saw to it that she was given the opportunity and access to the best teachers and materials to foster this obvious gift she had for learning them. She loved languages and took it upon herself to make sure she learned all the little nuances and accents to make sure she was truly fluent.
As she grew older, her closeness to her twin never wavered, and only grew stronger. She deeply loved and cared for all members of her family, but Tereza held a special spot. Just like her father was protective of all his children; Matilde had a certain sense of protection for her twin. She too accompanied Tereza when they were 17 to Fortress Benide to visit her father. It amazed Matilde to see her sister implementing her healing skills, and for the first time in her life, she felt jealous and inadequate. Tereza was saving lives; it seemed like what she was doing truly mattered.
It was then and there that upon her return home, Matilde decided that she would take it upon herself to dedicate herself to honing her skills and abilities to the best they could be. She would be a diplomat; a negotiator. Her silver-tongue and ability to charm others had its purpose and she wanted badly to prove to her father her worth. Ever loyal to the d'Acuto family and name; Matilde will not allow herself to settle for anything less than perfection. Sure she likes to ride on occasion, or engage in a game of chess or other games of the mind, she even dances a bit to clear her head. However, she is driven to bring honor to her family in any way she can; her twin heals with her hands, and it is Matilde's goal to heal with her words.
