Jarret raises an eyebrow as he watches the end of the fight, letting out a bit of a whistle. "Interesting," he offers, before he hears the announcement from Ludovic. Turning to Eisen, he offers the man a smile. "Baron. It has been a long time, yes. Hopefully, it will be a good fight. I've always had great respect for your skills."

"And I yours. Out of the available opponents, I was rather hoping we were able to clash. You're one of the few warriors of the land that people say are peerless, and I always love a good challenge. Good luck to you, sir." Eisen takes a step back and waits for Jarret to pick his weapon, so that the battle may begin in earnest. To tell the truth, he knew he might be at a disadvantage against an axe, for all it would take is a single lucky blow, but he didn't care…with more challenge comes growth.

"Good luck to you as well," Jarret replies, offering a polite nod. Moving to get hold of his tournament axe and get ready. "May the best man win," he offers with a smile, before indicating his readiness.

And so, the battle is joined! The veteran warriors would certainly circle each other for a bit, trying to feel out the others weaknesses. Jarret naturally had the advantage of reach and power, where Eisen would be forced to capitalize on his instincts and speed. A few casual blows are exchanged before a flurry of strikes comes from the big man, landing a few good shots to the arms of the axe-wielding Sokar, perhaps trying to impair him in some way. He manages to avoid the worst of the axe swings, deflecting them where he can and dodging them where he must. This would hopefully be a more fitting contest…Jarret was a seasoned warrior and Eisen knew he could take it, so he remained wary.

Olivia smiles at Ludovic. "I bet you ten crowns on His Lordship d'Geroux." She challenges him with a smirk before leaning in to whisper something else to him with a look of mischief in her eyes. Then her eyes go to the fight and she smiles brightly. "Hopefully Sir Jarret will last longer than I did."

Ludovic chuckles at Olivia's bet. "I'll match it with ten on Lord Jarret then." He grins at Olivia's whisper, letting the smile speak as his answer and then he focuses entirely back on the fight. "You started a little better. I think."

There's a similar wariness and caution as Jarret moves, but so far he's taken most of the hits during this exchange. "You are quite fast," he offers, with a bit of a smile, before he moves forward again, trying his best to take down the d'Geroux.

"One of my cardinal attributes…I'm much faster than someone my size ought to be." Eisen offers with a bit of counterbanter, still feeling Jarret out, darting in jabs with the weighted glove when he is able. The axe is a problem though and eventually, the big man will have to take a hit sometime, so he should end this quickly. He leaves himself open to a swing and when the Sokar inevitably takes advantage, the big man allows the axe to swing in…but he quickly adjusts and traps the flat of the weapon underneath his spare arm. He wrenches in and uses the momentum of his opponent to carry him onto his first blow, a meaty smack into his thigh to send him off balance, before swinging in a leg to sweep and giving him a hammer blow to the sternum on the way down with the weighted glove.

Going off balance from that hit, Jarret has no chance to avoid the rest of the attacks, and goes down, rolling over on the side after that blow to his sternum. Staying down for a while, as he takes some moments to get some air back into his lungs. When he's certain he has that, he's unable to hold back some laughter. Laughing for a few moments longer, before he gets back to his feet, he offers a grin to Eisen. "Congratulations. Very well fought. We will have to try this again at some point, yes?"

Olivia smiles as she receives a favorable reaction to her whispered words but then she is focused on the match. She grins as Eisen land a few heavy blows. "That looks painful even from here. I'm going to have to convince him to help me with my hand to hand skills." She grins. When Eisen bring Jarret down she laughs happily and looks to Ludovic with a playful smirk. "It looks like you owe me a debt of sorts Your Excellency. You can pay up later, I've got to go get ready for the melee, wish me luck?"

"Yeah. Ten Crowns." Ludovic tells Olivia. "Come collect it later alright?" He smiles at her and adds, "Already wished you luck Olivia."
He steps away from Olivia then, drawing himself up to his full height and raising his voice so everyone can't help but hear him. "And with that win Baron Eisen d'Geroux takes the title of champion duellist for the tournament. Congratulations Baron."

"Of course. I always welcome the chance to test my skills against warriors of renown. Only way to get better is to stay sharp." The big man offers his hand out to Jarret for a shake and if/when it's taken, he'll give a firm, but polite grip. When he is announced the victor of the duelist portion, the d'Geroux offers a nod to Ludovic. "My thanks to you, for both hosting this event and your hospitality. I am honoured to have participated."
