After his previous victory against non other than the tourney host himself, Zayne is trying to further prove his skills. Currently clad in a full set of smoke grey leathers with a green tunic underneath the jerkin that matches his eyes he carries a blunted version of his favorite weapon, the greatsword. The sword is carried easily within reach as he scans for potential opponents.

He's gotten one of those wins so far, and Jarret is still on the field. He's using a normal tourney axe instead of the poleaxe he prefers in real battle, as he looks around. There's a pause as he spots Zayne, offering the man a nod and a brief grin.

Ludovic is walking about the tourney grounds, taking the time to speak with anyone of note and generally enjoying the cool winter day. He smiles easily as he weaves his way through the crowds, the smile only growing as he stops nearby to speak with one of Baron d'Acuto's daughters.

Zayne returns that grin as he notices Jarret looking his way. Casually he approches the man one hand on the hilt of his tourney blade. "Sir Jarret Sokar wasn't it? I hear they call you the Bloodaxe?" He looks the man over thoughtfully and grins. "I bet you would make for a fun challenge. What say you? Want to match the Bloodaxe against the Red Bear?"

"People call others lots of strange things, my friend," Jarret remarks, before he offers a brief grin. "But if you feel the need to get knocked some sense into you, I'm sure I can do it." It's offered lightly, as he looks to his axe briefly.

Zayne laughs merrily. "Some might say I could use a good beating. I could certainly use any extra sense if you can manage to hit me hard enough for it to stick." An amused grin is given. "Lets take this to the ring then." And he moves into place, drawing some attention from spectators when they see who it is, and who he is facing.

The noble lady directs Ludovic's attention to the two challenging nobles and he turns his head to look on across in their direction. He grins suddenly, gives his apologies to the Lady, and then strides on across to the two of them. "Good match." He declares. "I can witness."

Jarret shrugs a little as he hears Zayne's words. "Well, getting it to stick might be the problem," he offers, before he moves over towards the ring as well. "Let's do this," he offers, glancing over to Ludovic as well. "Thanks."

Zayne nods to Ludovic as he agree to oversee the match. That greatsword is readied and he slips into a fight stance. However as he presses in for a sweeping attack he isn't really prepared for just how good Jarret is. His blows are all deflected in the beginning and he laughs before narrowing his eyes, taking a few rather hard hits. "You are good. I guess I need to try harder…" So he attempts to find an advantage he can use against his opponent as they fight.

Moving forward, Jarret frowns a bit at the beginning, before he does his best to get himself where the range of Zayne's greatseword might not work as well. As he gets those few good hits in, he grins. "Hey, you could just yield, you know," he remarks, getting ready for more of a fight happening.

Ludovic leans on a convenient post, just out of range of the duelling contestants. "Show us some blood!" he calls out, his tone full of humour. "You can do better than that Bear!"

Zayne laughs and takes a step back swatting his blade towards Jarret in a few quick yet still relatively light blows. "Yield? Not yet." He chuckles and continues to stay on the move, trying to keep Jarret from pinning him in. Ludovic's comment has him looking amused but he doesn't break focus. "I'm trying Your Excellency! I'm trying!" He grins and sweeps his blade around for another attack.

And this time Jarret is the one forced back. "Ah, that's better," he remarks, shaking his head a little as he hears Ludovic's comments. "Hey, you're next, hmmm?" he calls out, before he moves forward for another attack.

"Thats better!" Ludovic calls out as Zayne rallies. "Lord Jarret. I know you can do better!" He laughs briefly, boisterously as Jarret declares he's next. "Challenge accepted."

Zayne is forced back as he presses in again taking a few more bruising hits. He growls and eyes Jarret with narrowed eyes. "Your good. Hit me one more time and I will yield." He consents before trying to pull off a flurry and swift blows meant to prevent Jarret from getting him again and maybe do some damage as well before he is forced to bow out.

While he manages to give the needed hits, Jarret also takes one solid hit, but he laughs momentarily at Zayne's words about yielding if he hits him one more time. Moving to the side, he manages to get that hit in, raising an eyebrow. "Like that?" Waiting to see if the yield will happen.

Zayne chuckles and lowers his blade. Looking a bit stiff but in good humor. "Like that. I yield." He bows his head to Jarret politely. "Well fought. Sir Jarret. It was a pleasure to face you." He grins and moves out of the dueling arena nodding to Ludovic as he moves past the man.

Ludovic nods to Zayne as he passes. "It was a good match Zayne d'Rana. I'm sure people will be talking about it for quite some time." He looks back to Jarret. "This win means that you are currently the highest scoring contestant in the duels." A quick grin. "Sure you want to risk that all on challenging me?"

Jarret grins, "Well fought," he replies to Zayne. "Good luck with the rest of the competitions." He then turns to look at Ludovic again, offering the man a brief chuckle. "No risk, no reward, right?"

"Right." Ludovic says to Jarret. "You're good enough that I'm happy to fight you. Lets come back in an hour though, alright?" He grins. "Wouldnt want it to be said that I beat you when you were already halfway beaten."
