Galenthia - Firen - Marketplace

The marketplace is the most central hub of Firen and is abuzz with activity with peddlers hawking their wares and citizens and visitors alike wandering to take in the sights as well as buy whatever they might need for their day. Everything from fresh fish, meats, produce and other foodstuff as well as textiles, animals and other items up for sale, some of which are from other lands.

Buildings can also be found, a lot of which seem to make up the outer perimeter of the marketplace proper, with inns and taverns, bakeries and other such businesses being what can be found.

Regardless of what time of day or night it is, guards can be found wandering the area, their presence meant to help keep the peace within the city with special attention paid to the west where the docks can be found.

Its still quite early in the afternoon and the market has calmed a bit as most of the shoppers take breaks for lunch. The figure of a blonde woman dressed in a gown of aquamarine cotton that brings out her eyes is current present at a stand selling hand cannons and ammunition. The Lady Sasha Fendral looks quite lady like today, her hair pinned up in a neat and elegant updo with a few curls framing her face. A belt of grey leather is wrapped about her waist and holstered on that belt is a hand cannon which may be why she is currently haggling for bullets and powder. She finishes her discussion with the merchant and pays for what she needs taking two small sized leather bags with bullets and black powder. She checks them over carefully and then hooks them onto her belt and turns to leave. Her expression is rather calm and even when she was haggling she remained quite composed, now she wanders the market looking around in faint curiousity.

Young Lord Cassius Volstak is milling about in front of the inn with two friends and none of them are exactly sober. Bored teens, loitering, watching people, commenting on everyone and everything. When Cassius spies the Lady Sasha, his eyes narrow a little and he leans closer to his friends to whisper something. They whisper and nod and obviously some gossip is being traded eagerly.

Sasha spies the teens watching her and Cassius is studied a moment as though she is trying to place exactly who he is. She offers the three of them a faint smile, her expression composed but still friendly and kind. She begins to make her way over towards them likely intending to speak with them. Her steps are slow and graceful as she winds herw ay over in that direction. "Good afternoon to the three of you." She offers politely. Cassius is studied a bit longer than the others. "You look familar…have we met before?"

"Not really.", Cassius replies slowly, thoughtfully, looking her over. "I know your kid though. I think he's my… nephew.", he smirks a little, then clarifies: "I'm Cassius Volstak."

Sasha raises a blonde brow. "Your nephew? Thats impossible…I only have one son and he is…" Her eyes darken with a strange mixture of anger and sorrow that only there a moment before it fades. "a victim of circumstance." The introduction is met with a look of recognization and suddenly Sasha is smiling rather warmly. "Oh. You must be the Viscountess's brother. A pleasure to meet you Lord Cassius. I am Lady Sasha Fendral though…I suppose you already knew that?" She smiles in faint amusement clearly not offended that they might have been talking about her.

Cassius confirms her assumption with a nod and a faint smile, though he doesn't seem to be as eager about the meeting as she is. "Victim or not, he's still my nephew in a way.", he grins and tilts his head slightly. "I hear Henric is looking to get you married off though. So he may not be my nephew for much longer?"

Sasha nods smiling faintly. "I suppose he is. Though I would have prefered he remained a Fendral and not started this whole…mess. My brothers ambition has always outweighed his sense." Her tone is one of polite honesty and she regards Cassius with a look of empathy and sadness. "Even if I do marry the Viscount has claimed my son. I will not be able to raise him. I will visit regularly though and Lord Cassius…I cannot say this enough times, it was never my intention to come between your sister and the Viscount. I did not want to present Aiden at all. But when your head of house gives you a direct order there is little you can do." She truly does look sorry and its clear she is being truthful.

The other squires are taking far too much interest in the conversation for Cassius' liking so he pushes one back into the other with a frown. "Sod off, both of you!", he half-orders them then takes a few steps into the other direction, hoping that Sasha will follow him. Apparently her honesty and friendliness have struck a note with him. "Well yea, alright then.", he admits when they are out of earshot, "I just wanted to be sure that the brats my sister pop will be first in line, you know?"

Sasha watches in faint amusment as the other two are ordered about. She does follow Cassius and her smile is soft and quite warm as she notices she might very well be getting through to him. She nods remaining polite and honest with him. "Let me assure you Lord Cassius I have no plans on pushing for Aiden to remain the Cassomir heir. I never wanted him to be made heir in the first place. Any child Her Excellency has will come first and I fully support that. She is a good woman and I would not dare risk our friendship for my own ambitions even if I had them. My only desire is to see Aiden treated well and cared for, despite the awkwardness of this situation."

Cassius can deal with idiots and jerks, but kindness is something he can't really handle well. So he listens in silence and finally shrugs. "Yea, don't worry. She's kinda decent, my sister. And I can keep an eye on him when he's bigger. I mean, he's just a little brat now, right? Can't even hold a sword…", he tries to explain.

Sasha laughs gently. "Yes he is much too little for swords at the moment. But don't worry, you probably won't have to baby sit and I won't expect you to. I am just glad we got the chance to talk. I would like to have a good relationship with those of your House if at all possible. I am not my brother and I bear no grudges or ill will against House Volstak." She smiles softly once more and inclines her head low. "I should be on my way. Thank you for listening Lord Cassius. I hope I did not turn out to be quite as bad as the rumors might suggest." That last bit is offered playfully and she winks at him before turning to go.

"I don't even know your brother.", Cassius admits. But maybe she knows that he isn't very much aware of things beyond his limited squire horizon. "Guess you're kinda okay.", he mumbles and looks awkward when she winks at him. She's gone before he can say anything else and so he returns to his friends.
