Beach
Sand and surf, silvery moonlight
09-24-1865

Its fairly late at night and Edwyn being unable to sleep is drawn out onto the beach near the city of Matera. The blonde al'Callenta stands on the sandy shore looking out at the rolling waves and the starry sky. A large moon shines above the ocean and the light reflects on the water and on the golden hair of the Knight. Edwyn's gaze is thoughtful as he looks out at the water. There is a touch of tension in his shoulders that seems to be fading away the longer he lingers by the waves. He sighs and lets out a slow breath his gaze slowly drifting from the waves up to the moon above him.

It had become a ritual to Sebryna, whenever there was an ocean near, as in Four Corners, she sought it out when she could, if only to draw strength from it, for that is what it seemed to do. Wearing a lightweight dress of a gauzy material in an soft, pastel aquamarine color, the only other adornments are a shell bracelet on one wrist as well as a golden bracelet with a tiny golden heart dangling from it. Her feet are bare, her shoes kicked off several yards ago, it is only then she notices a somewhat familiar face. And now she had a name to accompany it. For a long moment though, she says nothing, only watching the moon beams dancing over the man, the waves and the sand, washing the whole beach in a silvery light. Only after several moments does she break the silence of the waves crashing the beach. "Good evening, Sir Edwyn."

Slowly Edwyn turns around. His eyes search for who had called out to him and then he spots a now familer face. He smiles softly. "Good evening to you as well Lady Sebryna." He steps over in her direction slowly and will drop into a polite bow for her. Straightening up he glances out to the waves and sky and then looks back to the lady. For a moment it seems he is at a loss for words and then he smiles warmly once again. "You look beautiful this evening my Lady. May I ask what brings you out here? Do you by any chance share my fondness for watching the waves?" His gaze is curious but still quite warm as he studies her a moment.

When he turns and approaches her, Sebryna takes a few more steps, meeting him part way, to be closer to the water. His smile is met with one of her own and she dips into a curtsy, dipping her head. When she lifts it, there is a pink in them, perhaps from the compliment, not that she is prone to easily blushing, but he seems to bring it out of her. "I do indeed," she responds softly. "I adore coming out to watch the waves dance upon the shore and there, just there beside where the water meets the sand, how the sand turns to starbursts with each step. Have you ever noticed that?"

Edwyn smiles again nodding his head once. "Indeed I have. Nothing seems to relax me as much as watching the waves on the sand and the sky above the sea is one of my favorite sights. Though I must say that currently the sky and sea are being challenged for being the most beautiful things here to behold." Edwyn's tone is soft and calm as his gaze studies her, meeting her eyes with his and leaving no doubt about what he is referring to. His head tilts. "Have you ever had the chance to sail my Lady? It is something I think I should like to do some day myself."

When he mentions the sky, blue eyes lift to the moon, the reflection of it in her eyes as she lowers them to meet his. "Your compliments have captured my attention, if that is what you were intending, it has worked." A smile plays over her lips, perhaps she had ever been a bit too blunt, only it seemed to save much time. "Though I admit.. your charm and dashing looks have left quite an indelible mark on me as well." The question is easily responded to, and she moves to stand beside him. "Would you like to walk on the beach while we talk?" Her bare feet make small indentions in the sand. "I have yet to experience sailing, though I admit it has always brought me curiosity. I simply never knew anyone who had the ability. Or the vessel."

Edwyn's gaze follows hers looking up at the moon breifly and then back down again. He smiles softly and there a slight arch to his left eyebrow as it rasies up a little bit. "My only intention was to speak the truth my Lady. I only say what I mean and if I managed to flatter you as well then I will consider myself blessed." Her compliments have a light hint of pink appearing in his cheeks and he chuckles softly. "If you intend to try and flatter me in return then you are doing a fine job of it." He will nod and offer her his arm if she wishes to take it. "I would be glad to." He will set a lesuirely pace along the beach glancing towards the sea and then back to his companion with a soft smile. "Nor have I…perhaps we shall both have the opportunity to sail some day."

"Then you have flattered me with your own opinions," Sebryna offers with a warm smile. Accepting his arm when he offers, she loops hers through his and as their shoulders brush, she looks up at him instead of the water, drawn more there than anywhere else. "Flattery will get a girl no where, I find honesty is the best policy." Giving him another playful look, she follows at his more sedate pace, in no rush to end the evening. "I wonder could we charter a boat while here."

"So it would seem." Edwyn replies with a warm smile his gaze soft as he gazes down at her as they walk slowly along the beach. That next statement has Edwyn's brow raising once again his eyes shining slightly in the moonlight with warmth and amusment. "Then it seems we both have a preference for honesty." The question has him looking thoughtful. "Perhaps I would think it would be possible…would you be willing to join me if I could manage to find a boat to charter? I think I would like to try it and your company would be most welcome."

The way the moonlight reflects upon him as he looks down at him has her captured by him rather effectively. Sebryne does not look away for a long moment. Only as they continue to walk does she look out at the water again, the soft sound of the waves a lovely backdrop. "And strawberries." She adds impishly after a moment, for perhaps she had seen him perusing them in the market earlier. "If we could, I would certainly be accepting of such an invitation and could even pack a picnic lunch, if you would be so inclined to join me for one while we were out?"

"I am quite fond of strawberries as well yes." Edwyn smiles softly his gaze following hers to the water. He watches the waves a moment and then looking back to her once again, she seems to have a habit of drawing his attention. The acceptance of his offer has him smiling quite brightly now. "I will certainly do my best to see if we can then and a picnic is a wonderful idea as well…especially if it has strawberries." His smile turns a touch playful now. He studies her intently a moment his gaze soft. "If it is not too forward of me my Lady Sebryna…perhaps I might make the request to accompany you to the tourney banquet? You need not answer right away if you do not wish to…just know that I would gladly accompany you and offer to dance with you when the time comes." He gently shifts his arm to take her hand and then lifts it to his lips placing a feather light kiss upon her knuckles. His eyes remain locked with hers as he does this and slowly he will lower her hand from his lips smiling softly.

Sebryna had suspected it, his strawberry affinity, or perhaps just a liking, "I will make sure to bring some on our expedition then." There is another playful smile that turns more serious when he studies her. Lifting her eyes to meet his, she finds herself spellbound. His request, however, brings her pause. There is no answer right away and when he lifts her hand, she smiles, watching the way his lips pressed upon her knuckles before she will answer. "Lord Edwyn," she begins softly. "I would be so honored to accompany you and spend the evening dancing with you, but I carry the favor of another who is unable to make the dance, a friend, a Brother, back in Four Corners. Would that you could hold a dance for me, I would be honored to do so, though it would be most untoward of me to accept an invitation while carrying the favor of another." There is genuine remorse in her words, most certainly not that she carries the Brother's favor, but that she had to decline the offer of Edwyn.

Edwyn smiles again this one gentle and sweet. There is disappointment in his eyes as she mentions she cannot accept his offer but he seems to take it with grace. He inclines his head to her. "I will gladly hold a dance for you then and I thank you for your honesty my Lady. This Brother is a lucky man indeed but perhaps….perhaps my own luck will be better next time." He looks up and smiles again his gaze soft and a touch hopeful as well. "I should return but I do not wish to leave you just yet my Lady. Perhaps I could escort you back to where you are staying?"

"It is late," Sebryna agrees, albeit a touch sadly. "If you could save that dance, or perhaps even two, I would be more than glad to dance with you." Seeing that there was disappointment she had never wanted to cause, she bows her head and sighs softly. "Should you find yourself without an invitation next month along the circuit, I would be greatly honored." Though a month was forever and there could certainly be more interests in his life, and the knowledge is there in her eyes. "I would appreciate and enjoy the longer time in your presence, if you would walk me back?"

"I will save you as many dances as you would like to share with me my Lady." Edwyn replies warmly looking down breifly at her hand that is still held gently in his own. The offer has him raising a brow in surprise but his gaze is warm and quite happy as well. "We shall see my lady…if you still wish to accompany next month me after you've seen me dance then I would be honored to accept." He smiles and nods. "I would be glad to my lady." He will lead her back over to where she had left her shoes first. "Though perhaps you will need to reclaim your shoes before we take our leave." His smile is a touch playful as he meets her eyes once again.

His agreement to more dances is met with another warm smile, Sebryna does not remove her hand from his. This had completely taken her by surprise.. having fought in the spar at his side to.. this. "And you as well, after seeing me dance. Or my performance in the tournament which has a chance to be dismal." Laughter lights her eyes. Her shoes! Only then does she separate from him and she walks over and slips her feet into her slippers before returning to him, slipping her arm into his quite naturally. "I had a wonderful time tonight and I look forward to the sailing and the dancing."

Edwyn chuckles softly. "I was unhorsed in the first round last time…rather violently. So there is a chance I will not do very well here either. Still I will give it my best and wish you luck as well. I can only hope you will do the same and wish me a bit of luck as well. Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose but each encounter should teach us something. That is how you get better after all." He smiles softly watching as she rejoins him slipping her arm into his. He will lead the way off the beach and to where she is staying. "As did I…and I look forward to seeing you again as well. I will see about finding a ship that will take us sailing and let you know when I do."

It takes little time to get to where they are going, her own place is in the Inn, one of them, that offers rooms for the weary traveler. "I will wish you luck and best wishes throughout the tournament and perhaps in the melee, the northerners could stick together against the southerners." There is a warm smile that curves her lips as Sebryna makes the offer. "I will see you tomorrow for certain, for I am going to all of the events. I debate about the archery, though I contend I will do terribly, it would be fun to at least attempt it. I am uncertain as of yet. Until tomorrow, my lord." She offers a curtsy.

Edwyn nods pausing outside the door as they arrive. "Sticking together sounds like a good plan yes and I would be quite glad to team up with you again as well my Lady." He smiles warmly. "I plan to parcipate in all the events…archery is not my strong point either but I will make the attempt. Until tomorrow then my Lady." He will lift her hand to place another soft kiss on the knuckles before stepping back and offering a polite bow watching her until she is inside before he turns to go with a happy smile on his face.

Once inside, Sebryne watches from the door for a moment, the feel of his kiss on her hand warming her. "Goodnight," she whipers softly to him as he walks away with that happy smile, an echoing one on her own features.
