The professional troops of House Chandus of Leodis are broken down into two regiments, one retinue and one knightly. With their primarily infantry focused predecessors of House Sedar mostly destroyed during the early days of the War of the West, the Leodis retinue troops are centred on a core of heavy horse supported by lancers, archers and spearmen that act as valets. Most of the heavy infantry survivors of the former Sedar banner enrolled in Viscount Chandus's Repton Regiment, while Sir Henry Chandus, the new Lord Leodis, brought his own personal retainers to form the new regiment.
The Leodis Horse Guards (Ergonian Greys)
The Leodis Horse Guards are the house's mounted regiment, initially formed mainly from Lord Leodis's former personal knightly retinue. Their cap badge is a skull over two crossed lances, with the words, 'Or Glory' beneath. This comes from their decisive charge at the Battle of Mathis, 1873, where they helped break the waves of undead that were crashing on the allied left flank. Their motto is symbolised by their cap badge - 'Death or Glory'. Their secondary name, Ergonian Greys, comes from the colours of their standards, their facings and all accouterments and uniforms.
The horsemen are mounted on light Tarris chargers - grey in colour as much as possible. They are divided into two sabre squadrons of 80 each, divided into three troops of 24 and a squadron headquarters of 8, as well as one Headquarters Squadron of 40, whose troops are employed more on flanks and as scouts instead of as massed formation. Each heavy horseman forms a lance of four, supported by his own lancer squire, archer and valet. Troopers may rotate through different roles, though lances are usually kept together.
50 Heavy Cavalry - mostly armoured in brigandine, armed with lances, shields, maces and swords; these mounted men at arms were mainly drawn from Leodis's personal retinue as a landed knight before he became a peer.
50 Lancers - armoured more lightly than the heavy horse, usually in scale or mail, but similarly armed with the addition of javelins; the lancers act as squires for the heavy horsemen.
50 Longbowmen - armoured with mail shirts, longbows, short swords and pelta shields, mounted on ponies.
50 Galenthian Infantry (valets) - armoured similarly with mail shirts, spears, short swords and pelta shields, mounted on ponies; act as a valets for the horses.
Both archers and valets act in a supporting role to the horsemen, but drill together as formed units as well with massed archery and spear schiltrons respectively.
Leodis Regiment
The Leodis Regiment is a very new unit, and was founded as Leodis itself was stabilised in 1874. It is made up of the troops that serve under fief's the landed knights, and is a more conventional formation than the Ergonian Greys, consisting of two companies of pike with supporting archers, and a small complement of mounted scouts. Their cap badge is a silver portcullis (as in the house's arms) surrounded by laurels, with "LEODIS" underneath. Their motto is, 'Perseverance'.
100 Pikemen - armoured in mail shirts, equipped with pikes, short swords and bucklers.
75 Longbowmen - armoured with mail shirts, longbows, short swords and pelta shields.
25 scouts - armoured in gambesons or leather jerkins, armed with slings, short swords and pelta shields.
Leodis Fencibles
The Leodis Fencibles are composed of the fief's militia and are based from the capital. Like most other militia within County Repton March, they are pike and crossbow, organised into 50 man companies. Their cap badge is the Lord's monogram (HC for Henry Chandus) enclosed in a brass circlet. Their motto is, 'Stand Fast'.

Levies
Levies in Leodis come from rural areas, including both farmland and the more mountainous areas. They are made up of light spearmen, archers and skirmishers. Like elsewhere in the county, they are mandated to gather on occasion to conduct collective training, but this usually focuses on field and fighting skills rather than significant formation drill. Their main purpose is to support Shire Wardens in times of duress as local protection or in furtherance of law and order.
