A daughter to the Lord Mario al'Mordran, brother to the Duke of Rhone, Evelyn was named in honorific of her father's love for her mother. She took to her lessons like a sponge, reading, writing, and mathematics when she wasn't playing with her cousins or siblings. She found a fascination in both the wandering caravans that passed through Rhone, and in the brilliant, shining armor that the Knights held and would make up stories about them, telling them to the Elementi pup that her father had gifted her with on her fifth birthday that she would name Blaze, to keep the girl safe and protect her (not to mention the status symbol). The truth hit home when some of her family, her father's friends did not come back during the Thirty Year War. And while the Knighthood was appealing, her parents were surprised at how well her mind took to numbers, the ways of economics and saw how formidable their daughter could be for the family, and in trading.
When she was six, tragedy struck the al'Mordran family. A difficult concept for a young child to grasp, having so many disappear and be gone from life forever. And she and her family went to live in the castle, where she and Jasmina would often take some lessons together, play, compete for her father's affections in a playful, but competitive fashion and as girls that age are wont to do, cause mischief and get into trouble. Evelyn, though often 'scolded' for such, rarely treated her cousin as being sickly during that time and through a child's lens, only saw another child to have fun with.
The years would pass, and it would be discovered just how keen an understanding Evelyn would have with animals; the bond between her and Blaze forming a little more readily and quickly than usual, and her ease and mannerisms with the horses in the stable ended up earning her her own steed before her other siblings had gotten their own.
The precedent had been set, Evelyn would convince her father as he had done with Alaric to let her travel on some of the safer, shorter trading routes, picking up secrets of bartering as she could, and refining her Imperial speech along the way. Alaric, after all, would be the goodly Knight as tradition mandated and she would take up the reigns in the economical side of the House in trade and bartering. But not all plans can be counted on.
She was at the age of squiredom when her elder brother, Alaric, shunted the direction towards Knighthood as he turned adult, and so it was that Evelyn found herself being not-so-discreetly being pushed in that particular direction instead. As much as she did to her economics lessons, she took to the lessons of blade and steed with eagerness. In part, for still being enamored of the lifestyle of the Knighthood as she was when she was younger, but also well-knowing Jasmina's own dreams. There was a loyalty there, a love for her cousin - if her cousin could not be a Knight as she had originally dreamed, then perhaps her friend, her cousin, could live vicariously through her. And she owed it to Jasmina to not turn down the opportunity.
She was a good squire. Mostly. She began to find a pure enjoyment out of the mock-battles, but wanted more. She began to set her eyes on the Lightning Brigade as a goal of hers to join, to live the life to it's fullest. She found a particular fondness for gambling, and fighting for competition amongst her peers, as well as real battle in the field during this time. Realizing her potential, coupled with her lineage, Evelyn was selected for the new training learning how to wield Hand Cannons to better hold the line against the enemy and invaders along with the rest of those being trained with her.
And, to the pride of her family, she was Knighted, only slightly disappointed that her brother did not make it home to her Knighting, still she wrote to him of it, as she often did and still feeling close with her oft-absent sibling.
Now that she has some experience under her belt, she is ready to support her cousin, the Archduchess in whatever endeavor she needs, and is more than pleased of her brother's return as Chancellor of Rhone, and eager to help rebuild the House of al'Mordran to it's glory, before the Thirty Year War.
