Cervantes Arkanin was born to the Viscount and Viscountess of Arkanin. An extremely wealthy and warrior-like house, Cervantes was given the best tutoring, the best education, and the best training that they could afford. However…unlike his more reserved parents, Cervantes was….bold. Perhaps Fearless is a far better word as he always leapt at every danger, every adventure, every challenge with absolute and unshakeable courage and confidence. He was loud and boisterous, and challenged the status quo where he could. Either way, if he had to choose between the easy path and the hard path, he always chose the latter for the sole purpose that the end of the road would lead to far greater reaping.
However, unlike the elite spearmen that the house had produced, Cervantes was….less than ideal. Many considered it to be a genetic gap to -not- be a warrior whose natural talent was with the spear and tall shield. No, but where he failed in spearmanship, He excelled vastly with the blade. Many thought him blessed by the One or the Many. Nay, barely anyone could challenge him when he had a sword in his hand. it earned him recognition from his family and others as one of elite skill. Soon enough though, the question of becoming a squire to an experienced knight arose, but Cervantes had other plans in mind. His skill so great, he performed a series of labors to earn his spurs, being as independant as he was. He killed a Lion that was causing a small village trouble, despite the beast giving him that scar on his jaw and chest. He ended disputes with but words alone, treated others with honor and respect, committed to his word and the defense of the downtrodden. His natural leadership coupled with how people looked up to him, coupled with his other feats, such as strength of arms, easily brought him a knighthood at the age of 18…without having to go through squireship first. An incredibly rare feat indeed.
Once deciding to maintain his skills, he entered a tourney, whose reward was among the finest armors he had ever seen. It was perfectly edged out and fitted for the wearer. Full plated…very few obvious weaknesses minus the weight, which would be like a feather to him. That said, he now had the drive to achieve victory. After almost single-handedly eliminating all the competition for a sound victory and showcasing of his skills, along with the proper etiquette and attitude of a knight of the realm, Cervantes would win this armor and make it his own. Then? war broke out, as nations and Houses are to do. A few battles here and there, that tattered cloak that hung from his shoulders and waist earned him a truly fearsome presence on the battlefield. His skill with a blade terrifying and his pure, raw strength? Herculean, one could say. Always on the frontlines, he even earned a fearsome reputation as the Abysswalker, for his ability to give into rage to become an absolute killing machine…a Berserker. However, in his wrath as a warrior, he would always forget exactly what had occured…thus, his only true fear was ever only of this very monstrosity: A berserk Cervantes. It was after such a time that he left the battlefield with his company to attempt to regain his courage. After but only a few months of self-pity, control, and effort, he was back to his old self! Fearless, the Abysswalker, Cervantes was jovial, bold, courageous, and stupidly brave. Just how everyone liked it!
However, Cervantes soon fell in love. Always a bad sign. Sadly, it was with a peasant girl…something clearly frowned upon by his parents and superiors alike. Her name was Athila, and sadly, despite the two being passionately in love, Athila fell to her death after slipping off of a cliff. Her death haunts Cervantes still, and because of that? He is extremely slow to love. Bolstering his courage, his prideful and stubborn nature would show it's light. Despite facing overwhelming odds in battle, Cervantes refused to surrender, suffering heavy losses with his company despite battling wave after wave of enemy soldiers. He became known as bull-headed, Stubborn, and foolish in battle…but his bravery allowed a precious retreat by his allies that allowed them to form a counter attack from the time given.
Despite all he could accomplish, what with his fearless nature and happy demeanor, tragedy would strike. His mother had fallen gravely ill, and it was only a few weeks later that she finally passed from this world. But when it rains, it pours. His father soon also fell into sickness, but before his final hours, he gave his direct heir his birthright.
and Cervantes became Viscount Cervantes Arkanin, and with such a title came the tremendous responsibility that befell it.
Now? Now the new Viscount seems to treat his people and the Houses under his care with Benevolence, yet a firm hand. He rules wisely, and may it continue to be so.
