Born in the waning days of the Thirty Years War, Anelie al'Callenta's early life in Northwatch Hall had the shadow of war lurking over it. House Callenta, loyal to the Aequor Royal family, fought valiantly during the Thirty Years War and a young Anelie would find herself beginning her training as a page before war's end in preparation that this conflict would last another generation. Anelie, like her older siblings before her, would learn to become a warrior in these troubles times.
Thankfully, the Thirty Years War soon came to an end shortly after Anelie started her new responsibilities as a page. However, the young girl took a liking to this lifestyle and also wanted to follow her older sister and brother into knighthood. Any attempt to impart more 'gentle' skills upon Anelie were ultimately met with only limited success. She did learn to how to sew and cook, but the extent of these skills was geared more towards her later responsibilities that she would have as squire. There was one other non-martial pursuit that the young lady would become increasingly passionate about as the years pass, and that was her religious studies. Her zeal for the One Faith grew exponentially in these early years and only increased due to family's ties to the Archbishop of Murnord who was quick to offer a religious tutor to bolster the young Anelie's religious education.
Anelie eventually progressed in her studies as a page to where she would become a squire underneath the Lady Josiane of the Order of the Reliant. Under her care, Anelie would continue to practice his prowess with lance and horse. She learned to fight with a sword as well, but her true talent lied in using her agility and quick reactions to fight with pole-arms rather than blades. The Order of the Reliant was still a Militant Order and Anelie would have to become very adept in her arms if she wanted to join their ranks and maybe one day hold the title of Paladin.
The faiths of all the Callenta children would be tested during the invasions of the Ice-Queen Kyrena. The Order of the Reliant ventured forth to protect what Aequor citizens they could from these raiders. Anelie, still a squire, would firsthand witness the horrors that the Iceniala raiders left in their wake. The fighting was fierce and the Order was eventually forced to retreat to the Fortress Benide as with most of the surviving Aequor military.
It was here where Anelie would continue to fight the heathen barbarians during the siege and do what she could in the lulls of the siege. She was practiced in the rudiments of wound care and would often spend her waking hours tending to those in need at the makeshift hospitals of Fortress Benide. It was here where Anelie would offer her prayers and unfortunately see the passing of many the martyr in the fight against this raiders. The resiliency of the defenders of Benide would eventually win out against the pagan horde who would soon withdraw to their own homes. Some of these veteran defenders would lose their faith as a result of all of this bloodshed, others would find their faith renewed and strengthened by these hardships. Anelie was one of the latter. As with many of the others squires who survived the siege, she was knighted afterwards for her diligence and service throughout the siege. And with the blessing of the Reliant she was squired underneath, Lady Josiane, Anelie would take her vows to join their order in earnest.
Anelie's homecoming to would be both bittersweet and short. There was much to be done in the coming days and she would have to leave soon to begin her training as a Reliant proper. After her year of tutelage, the now Reliant would find her calling once more to the border villages of Aequor. These villages were weakened due to the relentless raids of the neighboring barbarians and there was much work to be done there on behalf of the Church. And wherever the Church went, they would need strong and zealous warrior to protect its flock such as the Reliant Anelie al'Callenta.
