Background

Sir Adrian Wyr is a trained farrier and horse-master raised to knighthood for the deeds of his youth. He is a loyal servant to House Tarris, swearing his hammer and life to their protection and well being.

Like many people that live on the lands owned by House Tarris, Adrian Wyr's life was molded by conflict and horses. Of common birth the large boy grew up just outside the walls of Griffon Point amidst the down to earth people of Galenthia's Eastern Province. Even young he was big, and often was found to run with the older boys that matched his own size. With the Tarris aggressiveness and temper he often quarreled with the other boys and with his size and girth established himself as a gifted brawler in a scrap. Often he played 'knight' with the others, his fascination with the epic tales of chivalry stunted only by his own naivety and ignorance. Scars and a love of his home came at a young age for him.

A life of rough and tumble of course does not a well rounded man make, so the One granted him a gentle hand with those that served man. At the age eleven his uncle Dais took him as an apprentice, caring for and shodding the hooves of the cavalry horses of Griffon Point. At seventeen years of age he was tasked to accompany a small patrol regiment as a favor to another from his uncle. As with every young man's first great adventure, things went south quickly.

A horrendous downpour, three thrown shoes, and when they finally camped for the night a raid. Caught by surprise they fought bravely, but soon discovered that the horses were the target. Horse thieves catching patrolmen in their sleep. They found the boy defending the horses like a mother badger, hissing and spitting, and swinging a farrier's hammer in one hand and a horseshoe like brass knuckles in the other. Of course it would be a losing battle for Wyr had the patrolmen not routed the thieves, but he did not retreat. It was days later that he woke alive, a bit more scarred, and under the care of a cavalryman that wore a Golden Oak on a black field.

For his bravery he was offered a life he once dreamed of, the hedge knight bought Wyr's apprenticeship under the oath of servitude to the people and House Tarris. While some of the skills he possesses are behind that of his peers, the excellent instruction given by a knight of the Golden Oak sped him along to knighthood, if several years behind the norm. With hammer and gauntlet stands his ground much like the creature his byname derives from, and as his oath demands a more loyal knight would be hard to find.

Physical Description

Short pale blond hair tops large features. A heavy brow defines Adrian Wyr's face, his thick eyebrows occasionally interrupted by heavy scars from injuries past. His eyes are a dark blue with heavy epicanthic folds at the edges. His nose is defined with wide flaring nostrils. Its bridge wells in a small knot and shifts slightly to the right from a bad break. His lips are wide and full on a massive jaw, and a small scar shows where his lower lip had been split once in the past. A trimmed beard ages his face, with the pale blond bristle deepening to gold in a triangle beneath his lip. His features in general are not unpleasant, but simply worn.

Wyr's frame is built tall and wide. Breaking six feet and easily heavier than two hundred pounds he is made of well-defined muscle. Over his body he wears the trappings of a knight, though their simple design speaks of one not of noble birth. His cloak is made of brown leather, and dark knit wool. Despite the simplicity of his garb, like many Tarris, he is well equipped. His heraldry marks him as a Knight of the Golden Oak, its pattern varied only by an angry badger defending the glittering roots of the tree.

Quirks and Personality

Assumed Quirks:

• Aggressive - Members of House Tarris all-too-often tend to think that there are very few solutions that can't be solved with violence. They sometimes have to be reined in a bit.

• Down-to-Earth - Folk of the Tarris line tend to be fairly pragmatic and earthy folk. Sometimes-coarse humor and comparatively close ties with their small folk (particularly their soldiers) are commonplace. They often make a point to share the same discomforts and trials as those serving under them, even when they need not do so.

• Hot-Tempered - Many of House Tarris are quick to anger. Coupled with their aggressive tendencies, it is no wonder they have such a potent warlike reputation. Even their most calm members have a breaking point, and while it may run hot or it may run cold, their anger is usually frightening for most to behold.

Chosen Quirks:

• Equine Friend - Adrian has an affinity with horses, and finds himself more calm and collected around them. They find in him a kindred spirit, and it has always been simple for him to train and handle them.

• Gifted Brawler - A big man with big fists, Adrian began his career of fighting in brawls, and will often bring that knowledge into his knightly career.

• Loyal - Stout and steadfast to his word, Adrian has sworn to the Knights of the Golden Oak, and to House Tarris. What he lacks in refinement he makes up for in loyal service.

• Well-Equipped - House Tarris goes out of its' way to make sure its' warriors are given the best equipment that can be managed.
