Background

A young nobleman publicly known by his people for being a charming roguish sort. He drinks, he gambles and he charms people into letting down their guard. He is also notoriously flighty and easily bored at least so the rumors go. However a few rumors speak of his possible syndicate ties and a secret that he tries to hide.

Vittore d'Cauthone was the youngest of the children born to Baron Mathis and Baroness Marianne d'Cauthone of Aequor. Vittore was born in the early spring of the year 1846 IE. His birth was fairly easy all things considered but was made a bit harder by the fact that he was a twin, born just a few minutes after Sidonie. Vittore had two older brothers Joshua and Jourdain who were six and four years his senior respectively. The older brothers took to Vittore better than they did their sister and the bond that Vittore shared with Sidonie began to wane as they grew older and more apart in thier interests.

A fairly quiet child Vittore seemed to dwell permanently in the shadows unless he wanted something. He did his lessons as was expected then promptly snuck off to know knows where exploring the family seat of Demons Due, learning all the good spots to hide and ways to escape before he was even six. The d'Cauthones were often skilled with boats and talented at using staff weapons. Vittore preferred sneaking around on foot as much as he could and favored bows and crossbows to staffs or spears though he did learn the basics of boating and riding horseback. He was a bit odd truth be told but no one could deny he possessed charm and a good deal of the luck d'Cauthones are known for. Vittore's sense of humor was morbid and his thoughts often turned to the darker side of subjects, namely a strange fascination with death that was present since he saw his father execute a man when he was seven.

That fascination spurred Vittore into studying death and various ways to kill from a distance. Bows and arrows were his favorite and he studied local plants and poisons just as eagerly and learned their effects, their signs, and their cure if it was possible to cure them. His studies of the arts of death and stealth earned some attention and his father decided that his youngest son would make an excellent assassin if trained properly. So Vittore was given further instruction that eventually led to him disappearing even more for reasons that were never explained. In truth he was sent to train as a syndicate assassin, trained to serve Adriono d'Armaz and his family. Local rumors said that he was sent away to study healing or apothecary arts and some even dared suggest that actually he was training to be an assassin. Those rumors died out fast though as Vittore's personality became more known to his people once he finally returned home. He just didn't seem like an assassin once you got to know him.

Outwardly Vittore was quite social despite his habit of disappearing suddenly when he got bored. He was charming, witty, clever, and had a love for drinking, dice, and cards. Often seen at taverns in the company of people of all stations who intrigued him Vittore had a reputation of a charming rogue because while he charmed people he rarely found one he desired to truly pursue. He hunted them for a moment and then turned his attention elsewhere. He was easily bored but quickly intrigued and he kept his morbid love of death and whatever he did on the side quite well hidden from the public eyes.

Twenty years into his life Vittore still a mystery of sorts, a dark intrigue that drew people in with a charming smile but never really let them get close enough to see what was underneath. He created a mask for himself in several ways. One was a mask to hide his morbid and dark nature, another was an actual mask, the mask of a snake. Snake-Eyes was his codename as an assassin and how he portrayed himself while on the job, cunning, stealthy and merciless on the attack. Only his family knows the truth of who he truly is and they never talked about it. The young man came and went from his family lands almost randomly or so it seemed. Rumors of what Vittore did seemed to change with the seasons and some people speculated why such a charming if absent minded young man was often gone without a trace only to suddenly turn up again smiling and deflecting questions of those who knew him with offers of games and drinks. The truth stayed hidden.

The Character

Appearance

The young lad before you is one on the edge of becoming a man. Looking as though he is nearing twenty if not already there his posture is one of alertness and attention. His facial expressions tend towards extremes of stoic or passionate and are often shifting. A figure of slightly above average height he is about six foot two inches tall. The build he has is lean and muscled albeit lightly. That form is made for quickness and his steps are quite fast and light of foot when he wishes them to be. Fair and rather pale skin is smooth and unmarred by the scars of battle or time. He has yet to grow a beard or even a sign of facial hair, the skin of his face remaining smooth and young looking.

Tousled hair is a deep ebony color and just messy enough to look handsome without looking too unkempt. Cut neatly at a medium length covering his small rounded ears that thick hair reaches down the back of his neck almost to his shoulders. Thick yet groomed eyebrows sit low over a pair of almond shaped eyes. The irisis of those eyes are a rather striking pale grey hue and they change from stoic and blank to bright and gleaming with emotion along with his expressions. The nose that reaches down between those eyes is long and sharp, the point of it upturned slightly. The high boned structure of his cheeks gives him a somewhat aristocratic look. This look is softened by the slight roundness of those cheeks as they slope down into his jaw and chin. The jaw is strong and rounded and the chin also rounds off with just the slightest of points to it. A long slender neck leads downwards to his body proper which is more often than not clad in leathers or the clothing of a nobleman

Semi-Formal Wear

Today his choice of attire is a relatively simple yet fine quality shirt of deep and rather bright blue. The shirt is long in the sleeves and neatly tailored to loosely fit his form. The neckline of this shirt is just a touch low showing off a hint of a lean and lightly toned chest. Worn along with it is a short sleeved velvet vest of a deep crimson that is so very dark it appears black except when the light hits it, only then that blood red sheen is easily spotted. Left open without fastenings the vest is worn neatly over the shirt hugging his chest and providing a contrast to the looser fitting shirt. The colors might not be the first choice for fashion but the shades he has chosen work fairly well together, giving him a look that is bold and daring without being completely garish and over the top. About his waist a belt of black leather is attached, a coinpurse hangs there but no visible weapons are present. His breeches are fairly practical in design, made for ease of movement and comfort as well as a bit of style. Made from deep crimson cotton with the same effect as his vest they fit nicely and reach down his legs to tuck carefully into a pair of tall calf high black leather boots. Those boots are flat soled and make it easy to move about quietly should the need arise.

Snake-Eyes

Snake-Eyes is an assassin who not many know of, which is a good thing for an assassin. Snake-Eyes works directly for Adriono D'Armaz and his true name is unknown to all but Adriono, himself, and who Adriono choses to tell. An archer assassin with a love for deadly poisons and a talent for remaining unseen, Snake-Eyes is rarely noticed unless he wants to be. He is highly professional following whatever orders he has been given without rebellion or excessive showing off. He is fiercely loyal to the D'Armaz and his style of killing varies depending on what his Boss wants, the method of poisoned arrows remains the same in most cases however.

Appearance

Before you stands a tall lean yet obviously male figure. With his face and body mostly obscured by the long hooded cloak he wears his true identity remains hidden. The cloak itself is a dark green, almost black in color and able to blend into the shadows of both forest and city. Underneath the hood one might be able to see his face were it not for the elaborate scaled mask in the shape of a black, venomous snake's head that covers his face. Alert eyes of the palest blue peek out from the slits that serve as the holes for his eyes. The mask he wears is metal and is carefully attached, everything from the top of his head to his chin covered. When he speaks the sound is rich and metallic coming from behind the mask and that lack of being able to see his expression or lips might make it a bit eerie or strange to behold.

The mask ends at the end of his face and there the scaled black armor he wears begins. Fitted to his form and designed for both protection and easy of movement the armor also replicates the scales of a snake in there pattern and design. His chest, arms and legs are all protected and gauntlets and boots of hard black leather are also worn. The gloves are designed fingerless for a better grip and the boots flat soled so he can move in silence. Underneath the cloak the flash of a belt with various vials, pouches and a quiver of arrows with black feather fletchings can be seen. More often than not this figure will be carrying a bow of some kind, anything from a hunting bow to a crossbow could be used but it might not be spotted until its much too late.
